Each year the seventy-three of the finest young men we can hire come to Deerfoot Lodge to provide the needed leadership for the daily program. These men come from across the country, and each shares the desire to be and to build godly young men. About 80% have previously been at The Lodge as camper and/or staff. The DL staff is salaried, both in recognition of worth and need. Deerfoot Lodge also has the Michael Owensby Staff Scholarship Fund which provides additional financial aid for education when this is needed. The composition of the staff varies from summer to summer. However, there are a few individuals who are considered to be permanent staff. These include:

Ron Mackey
/files/Staff Pics/mackey family 07_Resized_300x248.jpgChief Ron is in his fifth year as Director of Deerfoot Lodge. He started coming to Deerfoot as a Woodsman camper and has served in various staff roles at Deerfoot. Ron is married to Anne. They have four children: Emily, Abi, Sam and Grace. Ron is an ordained minister with a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. 

Ken Hoffman

Ken, in his 14th year as Maintenance Director, is a trained mechanic with Essentials of Firemanship and Deep Woods Search and Rescue certificates. Ken is an active member of the Wells Fire Department. Ken is married to Stephanie and they have two children, Shelby & James.

Stephanie Hoffman
Stephanie serves as our Office Manager and Registrar. She manages the camp office during the summer and all the registration and book keeping duties throughout the year from her Adirondack Office in Wells, NY.

Lynda Lankford
"Jo Nurse" serving her 12th year at Deerfoot, our Health Center Director.  Lynda oversees the Health Center operations and Nursing Staff.  She is a licensed RN in NY, PA and MN and has instructor certificates from the American Heart Association, Red Cross, and National Safety Council.  Additionally, Lynda serves on the Board of the Association of Camp Nurses.  Lynda and her husband, Lowell, have four children.

Shawn Barnett
Shawn returns for his seventh year as Head of Food Service. A Lone Eagle, long time camper and staff member, Shawn is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He and his wife Erica reside in Illinois where Shawn teaches culinary arts. They are the parents of Austin & Ethan.
